The History of IRAN LEAD & ZINC INDUSTRIES & MINES ASSOCIATION (I.L.Z.I.M.A)

Despite of many problems in 2000, a number of people who involved in lead and zinc industry  of Iran , made the necessary steps to establish the association and in 2001 IRAN LEAD & ZINC INDUSTRIES & MINES ASSOCIATION (ILZIMA) was stablished.

Initially, only 22 factories were the members of this association, only 12 of them were active and the rest were under construction. At that time, Yousef Moradloo, Ali Vasighi Motlagh, Shafaei, Namegh and Ansari joined the Board of Directors and after 2 years, Shafaei and Namegh replaced by Ohadi and Jamili. Currently,  Shafaei is the secretary of the association.

The production of Zinc ingots is one of the newly stablished industries in Iran and it dates back to 12 years ago. Before this, Iran was of the importers of Zinc , but by the private sector investments, it is anticipated to produce more than 300,000 tons of zinc metal in this  year, of which about 100,000 tones will be used inside the country, and the rest will be exported. The desirable fulfilment of this issue, requires a careful planning.
